Pregnancy Nutrition Guide
Part. 1
Whether you are a new mother to be or you are going to be a mother for the second or third time, there are a few facts you need to know in order to keep a healthy diet all year-round. However, nutrition is particularly important during pregnancy.
So if you are not a "foods label watcher" this is the right time to stop for a moment and start paying attention to the foods you purchase to eat every day, adding natural sources of nutrients such like fresh fruits and vegetables.
To be considered healthy, your diet must include the recommended quantities of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, mineral and fats, including plenty of water and orange juice which main virtue is to give you the folic acid required for your developing baby.
If you live in America , the U.S. government publishes and distributes dietary guidelines to help you determine by serving, the kind of food required every day for you and your family. These guides are usually available everywhere around the world and they are normally printed on some cereal boxes and other products.
Additionally, your doctor may prescribe multivitamins or other dietary supplements during pregnancy, but eating a variety of foods in the recommended portions will improve the health of both mother and baby.
If you are totally new to food labeling, keep in mind that RDA stands for recommended daily allowance or in other words the amount of a given standard nutrient, but being pregnant, the RDA in your diet will be higher for most of them.
