Vitamins for Pregnancy

Pregnancy requires a healthy diet including the recommended daily allowance of the basic nutrients but also enough vitamins and minerals in natural form from healthy foods, or coming from multi-vitamins or dietary supplements.

In fact, there are prenatal multi-vitamins which formula includes all those nutrients that your body will need during pregnancy, with the addition of minerals, and folic acid which is of great importance in pregnancy to increase the mother-to-be's metabolism, blood and cell formation.

If you are pregnant, keep in mind it is not just yourself, but also your developing baby who will need the intake of vitamins as supplement, to your diet but taking too many may cause the risk of grave problems in the developing baby so they must be prescribed.

Beside folic acid, you and your baby will need iron and calcium for developing proper bones and teeth. If you do not take enough iron, you may get anemia that makes people feel very tired and weak, not what you need while you are pregnant.

Additionally, your body will need to keep a good provision of Vitamin A, necessary for bone growth and teeth structure, Vitamin D helps absorption of calcium and bone develop, Vitamin C helps to maintain blood vessels and healthy tissue, Vitamin E is needed for maintenance of your own blood, and B-Complex Vitamins helps the nervous system and forms red blood cells.

Maintain a well balanced diet during pregnancy is not that hard if you have common sense to eat healthy and avoid junk food.
