Why You Need to Exercise During Pregnancy

Exercising will be healthy throughout our entire life but exercise during pregnancy is a must and highly recommend for most women except if any circumstance or condition exists that may harm the mother-to-be or the baby, such as in high-risk pregnancies. Even then, moderate exercising may be recommended but supervised closely by your health care provider.

Moderate pace exercising for healthy pregnant women may include daily walking, particularly during the first two trimesters helping the body have a smoother labor and delivery when that time comes. Those women enrolled in high impact exercise must re-adjust their routines or suspend them. High impact exercise includes activities such as scuba diving, high altitude training, parachute jumping, weight lifting, or contact sports.

Pregnancy in every woman is different for each and no overall rules can be given, however the early pregnancy planning along with medical advice can determine the kind of exercise routine during every stage or pregnancy. In general terms, walking and swimming are safe for pregnant women but this may not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice.

Yoga is another safe routine during pregnancy adding peace of mind and respiratory exercising which are both highly recommended to keep you healthy and your spirit up. Medical research has not found evidence of direct benefits for the baby if the mother-to-be exercises, but exercising help women to maintain their weight, stay healthy and feel better every day.

Exercise moderately if you are pregnant, but consult the doctor before starting your routine to avoid problems leading to future complications.
